Using the 2 step rev limiter (stutter box)
Thrasher Turbo Regal Chips
1. Come to a complete stop and hold the brakes tightly with your left foot.
2. Step into the throttle at a medium rate and bring the RPMs up to the
calibrated rev limit. Dont be overly cautious by bringing RPMs up too
slowly but dont slam into the throttle either.
3. If you go too deep into the throttle, then the engine will load up and
the "stutter" will become sluggish - too light and the stutter will be slow
too. Holding the throttle just enough to achieve the stutter RPM will result
in the best performance and the quickest stutter rate.
4. Holding against the rev limiter too long can cause the engine to load
up and bog too. Weve held cars for approximately 5 seconds without
problems - plenty long enough to stage.
5. To leave, put your foot to the floor! (While releasing the brake with
your left foot of course!)
If you dont go far enough into the throttle, the stutter will not release
immediately and will continue stuttering for a few feet. To avoid this simply
go deeper into the throttle.
Our latest software release has relaxed this somewhat and allows half to
3/4 throttle launches for "fun" and "playing around". However, if the stutter
does not immediately release on launch, you didnt go deep enough into
the throttle.
6. Remember, practice makes perfect! (And its a lot of fun.)
| To do a burnout, simply "drive thru" the stutter.
Bring the car up to the rev limit, and gently ease up on the brakes and go
deep into the throttle at the same time. Once the tires start spinning, or
the TPS exceeds a certain limit, the stutter will release and youll
be doing a burnout as normal. Of course, those of you with line locks will
have absolutely no problems doing a burnout and will not even know the rev
limiter is there. |
