HOT ROD Power Tour    page 1,   page 2

THRASHER was invited to join the Pontiac entourage on the 1999 Hot Rod Power Tour and we had a blast. The cars included a variety of Pontiac's custom show vehicles consisting of the Sunset Pearl Orange "So-Lo", the famed "Flamed" Grand Prix of Les Jarvis, and the Silver "THRASHER" Pontiac GTP Press Vehicle. We were also privileged to be given the responsibility to transport THE Official Pace Car for the Winston 500 (yes, it's a custom GTP convertible complete with strobe lighting) and Bobby Labonte's personal limo cross-country to the Talladega Speedway just in time for the event!

If you know NASCAR; you'll recognize this as Bobby Labonte's ride off the track - yes, it's Joe Gibbs Racing's "Interstate Battery" limo made from a stretched Pontiac Grand Prix! We drove this beauty cross-country with Les Jarvis and our sidekicks Mickey & Todd Larson of Twins Custom Concepts - you've probably seen their facilities in southern California featured on Hot Rod TV.

Ok, so doing pulley swaps for limos is a little "off the beaten path" but we are always up for a change of pace. Besides, the fringe benefits as you can see, make the ride even sweeter!


The official pace car for the Winston 500 was an authentic Grand Prix renovated into a convertible by the guys at TDM in Detroit. Unfortunately, the convertible top was not functional and it poured rain the first few days of the Power Tour.

Maurice Sheil and the Larson Twins soon discovered that covering the interior with plastic combined with high rates of speed would keep most of the water flying over the car instead of pouring inside. Creative minds just doing what you gotta do under adverse conditions!

We deliver Bobby Labonte's limo and the Winston 500 pace car to the Joe Gibbs Racing organization just in time for the weekend event.
