Hi race fans, or dare I say "fellow racers"?

I'm Julie, one of the Thrasher Engineered Performance associates. Though most of my working career has centered around Graphic Design, I spent over a decade in the automotive field as well. When I started working for THRASHER two last year, I wanted to go to the track and meet our customers; people like you.

My first opportunity to experience the track for myself was October 27 at Byron Dragway in Chicago. Little did I know, my boss had planned for me to "live" the experience! Well, with my card-playing nickname "Unruly Julie", how could I turn down the chance to get behind the wheel? Ok, why not!

Besides, I had an experienced racer and THRASHER Technician, Mike Dye, to give me a guided "walk-thru". What can I say, at that point, I was ready to hit it!

 

You have probably seen or heard of Mike at the tracks or his C-Ya Racing business. Mike, Pat or Joe are always available to assist our customers in need of technical advice on THRASHER products.



I drove the "Intimidator"; THRASHER'S 2001 Monte Carlo SS! And YES, this is one sweet baby! I drove up to the first line, then the second and staged the car... as the lights came down the tree, we took off! Woe!! ... what a 
r u s h !

As the Monte picked up speed in what seemed like only seconds, the front end began to loft! I panicked and took my foot off the gas for a split second! Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the other driver starting to gain on me and that just wasn't going to happen!

There was no way I was going to let that happen! My "Irish Pride" took over! Down to the floor went the gas pedal and I never let go until I crossed that finish line! Man, I did it!

The only time I felt a little pang of anxiety was in trying to "p r y" the helmet off my head! Obviously, I've never had one on my head and it's harder to take off than put on!

Competition must be in my blood. Growing up on a farm in Southern Indiana, I always enjoyed watching my dad compete in the tractor pulls. I was and probably still am a "tomboy" at heart!

After a few trips down the track, I was glad I did it! Who knows, I might just do it again! (If you read my race ticket above, KEEP IN MIND that I have never raced at a strip track in my life-that's my disclaimer for the miserable 60 ft and reaction times!) Hey, I DID have the guts to do it and that's what counts.

Even though the Monte is a street weight car with street tires; and experienced racer (say Mike Dye?) has run into the 11's with it!
